28/03/2009 - Completion of the
wing ready for inspection
First
job of the day was to fit the pitot onto the pitot mast. I
was dreading this bit as the pitot was expensive but I needn't of
worried. A little careful measurement; #36 drill and 6/32
UNC Tap and the button screws could be installed. Pleased
with the result.
I
spent a little time fabricating an angle plate and anodising it to
hold the pitot mast a little more rigid than just the skin holding
the top of it.
I then ran the blue plastic
tube from safeair for the AOA indicator and the green tube for the
pitot. I put in two clamps attached to the belcrank brackets
to keep the tubes from fouling any moving parts.
I installed 14AWG wire for the
cable runs back to the fuselage. Red for power, black for
ground and white for the warning light. Started the process
of connecting up the pitot tubes to the plastic lines and the
wiring of the heater unit to the pitot
I then finished it off with
some fastenings and heat shrink tubing for the main power lines.
A few cable ties made sure of strain relief and movement.

With the aileron brackets and flap braces painted,
they too could be riveted onto the structure.

Finished the day off with a little belcrank and
pushrod work

Other than a thorough check of everything and every
rivet the left wing is ready for inspection. I guess I
should check the pitot works as well, so time to buy a temporary
battery.
